Emmanuel “Manny” Dapidran Pacquiao, PLH is a Filipino professional boxer and politician. He is the first eight-division world champion with eight world titles on his belt, as well as the first lineal championship in four different weight classes. He was named “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2000s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), and is also a three-time The Ring and BWAA “Fighter of the Year”, for the years 2006, 2008, and 2009. Currently, Manny Pacquiao is the WBO welterweight champion (Super Champion). He is dubbed as the best pound for pound boxer in the world by most sporting news and boxing websites, including The Ring, BoxRec.com and Sporting Life. Aside from boxing, Pacquiao is also known for acting, music recording, and politics. In May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani. Cong. Pacquiao was born on December 17, 1978 in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines. He is the son of Rosalio Pacquiao and Dionisia Dapidran-Pacquiao. He is the fourth among six siblings: Liza Silvestre-Onding, Domingo Silvestre, Isidra Pacquiao-Paglinawan, Alberto “Bobby” Pacquiao and Rogelio ”Ruel” Pacquiao. He is married to Maria Geraldine “Jinkee” Jamora, and they are blessed with four children: Emmanuel Jr. “Jimuel”, Michael, Princess, and Queen Elizabeth “Queenie”. He has a home in his hometown General Santos City, South Cotabato, Philippines. However, as a congressman of the lone district of Sarangani, he is officially residing in Kiamba, Sarangani, the hometown of his wife. Cong.Manny is not shy about his being a devout Roman Catholic. Infront of the millions of viewers throughout the world he starts and ends all his fights with the Catholic trademark, the sign of the cross. It has also become his permanent ritual to attend a thanksgiving mass at the Basilica Minor of the Black Nazarene at Quiapo, Manila everytime he comes back home to the Philippines after every fight. Cong.Manny Pacquiao had also fulfilled a childhood dream of joining the military with his being commissioned as a military reservist with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the 15th Ready Reserve Division of the Philippine Army.
